About Brumby Watch Australia ?
Due to continuing financial difficulties Lyall-Lindsay (Sempf) considered closing down Brumby Watch Australia
(BWA) near the end of 2004, and work alone in protecting brumbies when finances become available. Before the BWA
'sanction' (a sanction is somewhat similar to an incorporation) was to be terminated, concerned brumby advocates chose
to keep the 'sanction' active so as to enable them to continue raising funds for Lyall-Lindsay.
The Brumby Watch Australia sanction is still active: Sanction Number CP4920, (ABN 48 118 385 239).
Adoptions are a part of the process of preserving brumbies. << Click to view adoption and foster information.

Education - particularly for students: If you would like to learn more about brumbies, please contact us as arrangements
may be able to be made for you to visit us and be taken out to view brumbies in the wild, and have many of your questions
answered.
What is a brumby? A very broad definition.
The brumby is Australia's wild horse, descended from domestic horses imported into Australia to be used in the settlement,
exploration and development of this country. The brumby is considered by many Australians, and a number of overseas
people to be an Australian icon. Others feel that the brumby is a pest and needs eradicating.

How many brumbies live in Australia?
No one really knows. Their numbers run into the thousands, however numbers are declining rapidly.
The major portion live in the Northern Territory, and the second largest portion live in north Queensland.

There are seven at present awaiting homes and will need keeping going through winter
until homes are found.
We never know just when brumbies are coming in and with our present numbers we may
not be able to help many more until these are homed.
This will be tragic for any brumby which is in need of rescueing.
All brumbies are at different levels of gentling and vary in ages as well as temperments.
