The illegal ATO was asked why it doesn't supply an Australian Business Number (ABN) on the top of the '2004 tax return for individuals' Tax Return Form.
The ATO responded (27 Aug '04, see below) claiming that it does not receive payment or perform the sale of goods or services, therefore there is no requirement to provide an ABN on forms.
The ATO does receive payments. One can only wonder if the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation Raelene Vivian actually wrote this letter. One can only wonder why this letter was not signed.

After responding to this letter, another letter was received from the illegal ATO (4 Jan '05, see below) apologising if their letter of 27 Aug '04 was confusing. This letter was signed by a Mr Steve Cantrill.
